    A very good true story on a young lady from Canada that goes to Nairobi to be a journalist, when she gets kidnapped and held captive for 15 months

    The story itself is a very emotional and interesting one. But I found that the book took forever to actually get into the main part of the story that I became un interested. I've also heard that from other reviews. Less of the book should have been about previous travelling (i did enjoy reading about her personal life) and more about being captured in Somalia. She is a very brace, strong and courageous woman. I just think the story really dragged on.

    This is a very unnerving tale of a woman who was kidnapped by Somalian thugs for 460 days. While reading it, I could not help but wonder why people put themselves in harm's way, and expect to not suffer consequences. But suffer she did-to the extreme. The tale has a happy ending, but the length and breadth of this woman's plight was, in no uncertain terms, tragic, gruesome and sickening. A House In the Sky is very well documented and presented, however, it is not literary fare for just anybody-it details mankind at his darkest, sickest and most evil.

    Couldn't put this book down. What an incredible journey that was written. My heart was so broken most of the time, but I learned so much about true strength from Amanda. An amazing read!
