A fantastic read!!
I love Emma Hart’s writing, and this just might be my favorite book of hers yet!!!
The meddling of Peyton’s besties, a reunion between her and her high school crush, and the banter between all of them had me laughing most of the time. While Peyton was a bit of a drama queen, it fit this story perfectly. We get to see her character grow, and become this awesome emotional adult to add to her list of successes. Elliott was sexy, fun, and sweet all rolled in to one. My heart broke for him as he faced a huge challenge in this story, but knew it would all work out in the end. Add in the funniest 3 year old, and you’ve got a fantastic read that I would definitely recommend!!
Hilarious and heartwarming
Another hilarious, witty, and endearing romantic comedy from Emma Hart. As a long time reader, I love this fiery romcom streak Ms. Hart is on.
After making a bet with her brother, Peyton sees Elliott, a man from her past. She’s determined to have a fling and be done with him. I loved Peyton, her character was fun and flirty, she felt like a friend. Elliott had me at first sight. The two of them were explosive together. Elliott is such a good man- in and out of the bedroom.
Overall, The Hook Up Experiment is a must read from Emma Hart. The characters are real and relatable, there is tension and light moments. It’s evenly paced and a book you get enthralled with. I couldn’t help but smile while I followed along. The writing is fabulous, and a must read for the rom-com reader!
Review: The Experiment 1: The Hook-Up Experiment
The Hook-Up Experiment by Emma Hart is the first book in her Experiment series. This book follows the same group of friends first introduced in The Upside to Being Single. This Peyton's story and begins with a bet between her and her brother. Told in dual POV and complete with Peyton & Elliott's HEA, this was a wonderful read, as usual, from the author.
Peyton has her issues. Her business requires her to look at penises, her best friends pair her up with her nemesis from high school for a blind date, and he is too gorgeous to stay away from.
Elliott tried to explain things to Peyton years ago in high school. The fact that she is still simmering over the misunderstanding is a little charming and a little scary. Not one to be put off he is determined to share the truth with her and hope for the best.
Loved it - I cannot wait for Chloe & Dom's story in The Dating Experiment. Enjoy!

I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!!! Emma Hart wrote a wonderful book about second chances!!!
Peyton is independent, hard working, loyal, feisty and daring. When she loves someone, she loves them hard and when she has something to say, she isn’t scared to say it. I loved that we got to see Peyton vulnerable because in my eyes it made her more human and real. When Elliott strolls back into her life, she doesn’t know what to do because for the past 10 years she’s held a grudge and when she finds out that it was for nothing she gets freaked because she’s starting to have real feeling for him.
Elliott is a single dad who is just sexy. He puts his daughter first and hasn’t dated anyone in years. When Peyton comes back into his life, he doesn’t let this second chance slip by him. He knows he has his work cut out for him because Peyton is closed up like Fort Knox and he is dealing with turmoil too, but he knows Peyton in his and his daughter’s life is worth fighting for.
The passion between these two is off the charts hot and their connection started all the way back in high school and just took a few years off and started back up again but much more stronger!!! I loved seeing characters from the previous book and I cannot wait for the next book!!!

Emma Hart has such a talent to write funny characters and children’s innocence and hysterical words so well! I can imagine a little kid saying some of the things that are written and it just makes it that much more funny!
I’m SO glad that Peyton got her story!!! I love how open and honest she is, with her PaD website/business and Just herself. She makes no apologies for who she is and makes sure that people know she’s proud of being who she is. I love her so much!!!
And Briony! Which I have NO idea how to pronounce that so I won’t even try. But I love that Briony was described and a miniature Peyton because I could SO see that!!
And GAH! The teasers for the next book/couple!

Steam, Sass, and A Second Chance

Peyton is a pepper pot of the highest order, with snark coming as naturally to her as breathing, and, man, she is locked and loaded to let Elliott have it. I mean, what else could be expected for the man that had been the bane of her teen years?
But the Elliott that Peyton meets now is not the same guy, at least as far as she can tell. This Elliott is as sexy as she remembers, sure, and more than able to hold his own with her, but he's changed in a lot of ways, too, ways that make Peyton want to spend more time listening to his story.
Emma's romantic comedies are always winners for me, but I absolutely adore the way that she writes kids. Briony steals the show here, and I could not love her any more. The scenes with her, as well as Elliott's woman-power espousing mother, made for some of the funniest moments in the book. And Dom and Chloe? When this hard-headed and hilarious duo finally get it together (which they will, and there will be a book to cover every delicious moment!), I predict all kinds of shenanigans. Another well-earned 4. 5 stars for THE HOOK-UP EXPERIMENT. Sass, steam, and a second chance; what could be better?

The Hook-Up Experiment is such a fun and sweet read. I have come to love Mellie, Peyton, and Chloe and I have been anxious to get to Peyton's story. She is stubborn and feisty and I love her. Elliott is quite the swoony single dad! I loved seeing the caring and nurturing side along with his sexy side. I just adored him and Briony. Emma always seems to write the absolutely perfect single parents time and time again.
Their story was very light and happy and I flew through the book! It put me in such a good mood and is just making me all the more anxious for Chloe's book.

This book was hilarious, sexy and a refreshing take on a second chance romance that you don't want to miss! I loved both Peyton and Elliott, they had the best banter and an all around adorable love/hate relationship.

The Queen of Romantic Comedy does it again! And, this time around, Emma Hart had me at the title of Peyton and Peyton’s brother’s premier hook-up website “Pick-A-D*ick,” and while I don’t particularly envy Peyton’s title as the ‘official d*ck pic sorter,’ the whole concept of their hook-up service is as much intriguing as it is scarring based on the pictures that Peyton has the good or bad fortune of sifting through and the endless amount of stories that both she and her brother have in their arsenal to not only prove that their business actually works but also to entertain their friends with as much outlandish behavior as possible.
Peyton Austin is a girl after my own heart - partly because I’m just as snarky, stubborn, and sarcastic as she is and partly because she owns who she is, how she makes money, and how she spends her time. There’s nothing about Peyton that seems manufactured. She is who she is and people either accept her or they don’t; she doesn’t care in the slightest because she refuses to be someone she’s not, even if it’s for a man or maybe especially if it’s a man.
The fact that Peyton is the one who believes that hooking up with the same person three times doesn’t have to develop into something more, changes things up a bit, and while Peyton’s not one to turn down a bet, I had a feeling from Peyton and Elliott’s initial reunion that things were not going to be as easy as Peyton thought they would be because the man that Elliott Sloane has become is nothing like the teenage boy who was a no-show for prom, which means that all of Peyton’s disdain for him has nowhere to go and holding something against someone that happened so many years ago definitely becomes problematic when their hook ups become so much more than random and emotionless.
Once again, Emma Hart creates a scene stealer in her creation of Elliott’s little girl. There’s no way anyone can interaction with her and not be smitten with her innocence and her honesty, and regardless of how much Peyton would like to deny it or perhaps not accept her feelings, she is definitely not immune to this young girl’s charm and loveliness and I know everyone who reads The Hook-Up Experiment will be smitten by her as well.
I’m so glad that Emma Hart is giving readers more of Peyton and Elliott’s story and I love that it changed from an experiment of hooking up to an experiment of dating her brother’s best friend and falling in love. There’s so much still to know about these two as well as their friends, and I can’t leave out Elliott’s daughter because I’m excited to watch her grow up and teach the adults a thing or two about living and loving.
